What is LTV?

LTV, or customer lifetime value, is an estimate of the value generated by a customer during their relationship with the company. For a marketing agency, it helps discuss retention and business investment; interpretation depends on using revenue or margin explicitly and recognizing that future permanence is uncertain.

Zenit OS is a platform for marketing agencies that brings sales management, WhatsApp prospecting, client operations and financial tools together in one place.

Why is this concept interesting to an agency?

Recurring contracts generate revenue distributed over time and may require implementation, service and delivery work. Estimating the value of a relationship allows you to relate the acquisition effort to customer retention, without treating the first monthly payment as the only result of the contract.

The indicator is most useful when comparing between similar service and entry period groups. A short consultancy contract and ongoing campaign management have different expectations and costs; mixing them into a single average can hide important situations for the team.

How can you create a simple estimate?

An income approximation multiplies the average monthly payment by the average number of months of stay. If a group pays an average of BRL 2,000 per month and stays for ten months, the estimated revenue LTV is BRL 20,000 per customer. This example does not take into account taxes, discounts, defaults or delivery costs.

To estimate contribution rather than revenue, set an appropriate margin and apply it consistently. The observed average must have an identified period, group and source. Active customers have not yet completed their stay, so predictions based on them require care not to confuse projection with known result.

What errors distort the decision?

Using an optimistic stay as certainty can lead to business expenses that are difficult to recover. Another mistake is to compare an LTV based on gross revenue with an acquisition cost and assume that the difference is profit. The agency needs to consider service costs and payment terms.

Averages also hide dispersion: a few very long contracts can increase value while many customers leave early. Examine entry groups and cancellation reasons, as well as portfolio evolution. No simple formula predicts an individual customer's behavior.

How do Zenit OS logs help with this analysis?

The operation area brings together resources to monitor customers and portfolio, and navigation includes retention and cohort for those who have access. Available financial data can complement the checking of values. The estimate presented must be defined by the agency, without assuming that every formula or report is available in each plan.

Permissions, modules and configurations need to be confirmed, including for financial tools under test. Schedule a demo and bring sample contracts of different lengths to discuss what data your team can track.

Frequently asked questions

Revenue LTV is retained profit?

No: an estimate based on monthly fees does not automatically discount the costs necessary to deliver the service.

Does an active customer already have a known end duration?

Not yet. Its full duration is uncertain, so a projection must be identified as an estimate.

Does the same calculation apply to all services?

The criteria may be the same, but separating services and profiles often makes comparisons more useful.

Does high LTV guarantee that the CAC is adequate?

The relationship deserves analysis, but costs, recovery time and data quality also influence the decision.
